A Christmas Gift

Thredbo is gearing up for an Australian Christmas (July 25th). The staff are getting into the spirit and surprise, surprise we had 10cm of medium density snowfall on the upper slopes. Another surprise was to find a crunchy base beneath the fluff.

There was a trace of new down as far as Lover's Leap but drizzle fell in the village most of the night. Mark Travis was in good form in a smoke-free-Tuesday Schuss bar and varsity week was in full swing. I'm glad that there was a long line to get into the Keller last night because I got first tracks on several runs this morning.

The cloud that settled on the upper slopes was pumping moisture into the fresh and thickening it up. At least it should end up bonding with the unseen crunchies.

The cloud did break long enough for me to get into the Basin, up Karels and pick up some nice untracked above Ramshead top station. More snow predicted for Friday and Saturday. While I predict more lines outside the Keller each night.
