Eagles Nest Update
I know it’s been a while since I’ve updated this page. A couple of weeks of rainy weather, a trip to Sydney and way too much work have kept me off the mountain until today. This morning the sun came out over a totally clear blue sky and although the 60-80kph head wind did make the walk out to Kosi lookout a little tougher than usual it was interesting to see what was left of the snow pack after so many days of rain and no overnight freezes.
The photos tell most of the story but walking over the snow it was soft on top but not rotten. My shoes went no deeper than 1-2cms into the base. That bodes well if I get a chance to get one more ski this season. The snowline today (Nov 4th) is no better than it was last Dec 4th when I had my last ski for 2004. This is an indication of how little snow we had this year and when considering that we haven’t had the red dust this year, which accelerates the thaw, it is even more indicative of the poor season we had. However, we always have a poor season after a good one and next year should be some improvement on 2005.
