Best Snow In Weeks
Several continual nights below zero had firmed the base and, as hoped, changed the crystal structure of the snow pack. Saturday morning arrived with the sun shining, mild winds and an air temp of about +4C. We headed out of the resort with skis and skins to many a queried gaze.
The snow was simply great - a soft surface of about 5cm on a firm base. Neither sticky nor slow, the snow enhanced our confidence and after the first run we felt comfortable taking any line. It was apparent that much snow had disappeared since last Monday but it was good to see that there is still a good cover on the faces of Kosciuszko, North Ramshead and Etheridge.
A little fizz and sultana cake keep us going till a late lunch at Eagles Nest. A very enjoyable workout that hopefully we will get to have again soon.

All in all a good day out
This morning the cloud was all the way down to the village floor. With no overnight freeze on the main range and the moisture laden cloud sitting on the snow pack there is no doubt that we chose the right day for our little sojourn.
