Another Sunny Weekend
Contrary to forecasts the weekend was sunny and mild. A small (unforecast) snowfall on Friday added a layer of fresh that prevented the base from freezing and freshies (1-2cms) could be found on the main range all weekend.
The snow base didn’t freeze right up and didn’t get quite to the normal spring slope state at the end of the day. The groomers were great first thing and the off piste bumps were kind. The north-facing off piste got sticky by before midday but the south-facing off piste was delightful after that.
There were no crowds. We did experience a queue at Sponars mid morning but other than that the only lift queue was after an injury occurred on Basin T-bar and the lift was stopped for around 20 minutes.
The lower slopes are feeling the warmer temperatures and the last little drop on High Noon above Creek station has been narrowed to 50% of the slope width. Snow making has continued into September and hopefully there will be more when the weather allows.

Nick Willey and support crew on Friday Flat
There was a slight dusting on the higher slopes last night but nothing much is forecast for the rest of the week. Looks like typical spring conditions for several days. Get out early for fast groomers and leave the off piste till late morning.
Nick Willey’s attempt at the world ski record for continuous skiing continues. He is into day 3 with 5 and some to go. Go Nick go!
