Firm 'n Fast
After respecting the "no camera" policy at the Kareela Hutte opening party yesterday I returned to the slopes today with camera in hand.
The cold temps and breezes kept he snow dry if not somewhat firm on middle slopes for the first hour or so. Snowmaking on lower Super Trail was lovely and soft while the upper mountain had hard wind packed sections, wind blown powder pockets and great carving groomers.
Bumps are starting to form in many places and with a thin layer of wind blown between the moguls there are suddenly hidden rocks to be hit. Yours truly undid much of Ronnie's hard work to clean up my bases when I hit 2 nasties this morning.
An ice capped Eagles Nest
Something you rarely see - a man made mogul race course being built on centre Super Trail
Races of all forms and shapes going on all over the mountain
Conrod Straight so wide it looks more like an expressway
The bureau has revised its earlier forecast and now says the next snow is posssibly due on Saturday. This is breaking with the regular Thursday snowfalls that have been the pattern since May. At least the interschool races are getting perfect conditions both snow and weather wise.
