Second Snows
The snow started falling again on Friday and continued right through the weekend. This was the second significant snow fall for 2004.
There was enough snow for the odd turn and/or jump. There were signs of a boarder track on the Supertrail this morning and last night there was a form of boarder park in operation at Friday Flat. Snowmobiles were out today.
Cold … -28C wind chill at 9:00am and that’s with the sun shinning. It was so cold overnight that the pipes froze at Eagle’s Nest meaning no restaurant or toilet facilities up top. The increasing winds eventually closed the Kozi Express chair prematurely. It was so cold up top I didn’t dare take any photos behind Eagle’s Nest when I ventured up there this morning.
Forecasters have more snow showers this week with a new front arriving in time for the Jazz weekend. Outdoor venues may be limited if the village is again covered in snow.

The sun shone – but not for long

The first tracks at Dead Horse Gap?
Luckily the snowploughs were out early on the Alpine Way
The resort looks like it could open for skiing & boarding

Boarder track on lower Supertrail?
Snow making will probably start in 2 weeks time and should see a base already well established at the higher altitudes.
As I write this, the sun is shining, a blizzard is raging, all lifts closed due to high winds and snowflakes are landing on my balcony.
I believe that the Kosciuszko Express quad is now closed for maintenance but will reopen next weekend for the Jazz festival.
