Some Sort Of Record?

A great long weekend was had in Thredbo. The weather was great and the snow still top to bottom. There were very few people around and that was probably the reason why on Monday morning there were only 4 lifts operating.

Skiing & boarding is now limited to the Supertrail, the Basin and Merritts area. It is not from lack of snow that High Noon, Central Spur or Karels were closed as they still retain a good cover of snow. If more riders had come to Thredbo resulting in bigger ticket sales we may still be cruising around over the entire resort (except for Friday Flat and Sundowner).

Sure the Supertrail is getting narrower at Ski In Ski Out and the cover has been softening up by 11:00 and then becoming sticky in places but the mornings have been great.

There were light snowfalls on both Sunday and Monday. The cover has been firm yet not icy first thing in the day and temperatures very pleasant and there has been little wind.

Today the weather is clear blue skies and enough of a breeze to stop you from getting baked under the October sun. I am still on my good boards and probably will be to the end.

Tomorrow will be 4 months since lifts opened for skiing and boarding this season and we still have “top to bottom” skiing and boarding. This makes approximately 120 days where you could ski and board to the base of Crackenback. Surely some sort of record and one I hope to see emulated if not broken in the future.

There’s snow forecast for tomorrow and again on Friday. When will it end?
