Down To The 1000th
Another beautiful blue-bird day. There still hasn't been any fresh snow but you couldn't complain about the weather.
On a secret run, with the best snow on the mountain, there was held a secret event marking the end of 'official' events for winter 2016. I say 'secret event' because the Ski Patrol Race never gets any decent publicity. I only found out about it whilst waiting for first chair this morning.
The groomers had done a great job on the Supertrail and the few remaining runs that can be groomed. Ski-in ski-out corner had had a major facelift. Like yesterday. the upper slopes were soft to start but firm below BunnyWalk station and off piste (I only found that out by accident ;-).
Meadows Grass Depth Measuring Point
The scene was set but no one could be seen at 10:05
The snow was primed - with leaves and assorted natural obstacles ;-)
The competition was fierce - and in some cases very, very fast
Michael had the technique looking good but it didn't help in his shoot-out
The ladies tele division was hot, the ladies alpine fast, the men had a few issues
Going, going, gone
There's no point blaming your equipment - at least ski patrol was on hand ;-)
This race started well for both but ended sadly for our international competitor
Down to the final race of the day - Daveo on red and Duncan on blue
Yes, Duncan won - of course - if he doesn't win he's hard to put up with ;-)
Thank you to Race Dep't & groomers, competitors and ski patrol (especially chief sausage & onion cooker) and a HUGE THANK YOU to all the local businesses who donated prizes.
I dedicate my 1000th Richard's Report to Thredbo Ski Patrol. May you never need them.
And a late update: Thank you David Harrison of HarroSnowSports for your very generous donation.
