Mostly Sunny

This week has been traditional spring weather - a frosty start followed by sunny days resulting in snow softening throughout the day.

On Wednesday after early morning runs and coffee at Eagles Nest, Marion, Linda and I headed out for Sth Ramshead. Unfortunately and to my consternation, Marion changed plan once we started and went to Nth Ramshead first. I was not dressed for the extra distance or extra heat and didn’t enjoy the extended tour.

Friday the forecast was for rain and rain it did below mid station for a short while but above it snowed and by midday it was dumping snow even in the village.

Yesterday I had a great day in the resort skiing with TraKtorman, Jax & Waz. It was the first time all season that I got to spend my day with them and a long day it was. The snow was great, softening below mid station by late morning. After starting on Supertrail, World Cup and True Blue, we did laps on High Noon and Wiamea as well as everything else.

After making first chair with Lucky Phil, Robin and Linda (no, the other Linda who gets up early) I spent most of today skiing with Lucky Phil, Linda (she who sleeps in), Paul, Gray and Richard. On spectacularly groomed slopes Lucky Phil and I got 5 runs down the front before 9:30 and then we slowed the pace a little to enjoy turns all over the resort. The wind never got to the forecast 35-55kph and although becoming overcast it made a nice day out - 6 hours for me and I left the others early.

Congrats to Richard (not moi) for making the big 60 - many have this season.

The forecasts have all been downgraded for this week but the maps look good (in my opinion) for significant snowfalls before next weekend.

The Grump: Why have both the BOM and the RTA changed their web sites, in the past week, in such a way as to make getting vital safety information for the snowy mountains and alpine areas much harder?
