Unbelievable
Monday I had a fun and fast time with Scot and Phil on the Supertrail for several runs on fresh groomed soft snow until we trenched it out and then we moved to Basin and Karels. Saschas was particularly nice being a tad firmer than the Supertrail.
I didn’t go out yesterday. It rained heavily on Monday night (32mm) and was still raining in the morning. The slopes looked bad. The red dust came and smoothered the resort yesterday and last night. I was awoken by a massive thunder and lightning show around 1:30am and it rained heavily again.
This morning through a veil of light rain I could see that some light, wet snow had fallen above Lover’s Leap station briefly obscuring the red dust except where machine or man had travelled. As I write this report the new snow is melting to reveal the red terror lying beneath.
It is sad that such a marvellous spectacle also means the demise of the snow pack. There are few lifts / runs open today and I doubt if the company will reopen any closures if and when more snow comes. With Karels now closed, outback touring becomes more difficult. With Gunbarrel closed I suspect the mountain is split into two pieces not to be rejoined this year.
The photos below will tell their own story.

I'm stunned. Forecasts are all over the place. Gale force winds and heavy snows. Rain, mud, hail & locusts ?
