The Three Amigos

No, the Telstra honchos have not been seen at Thredbo but I did have a fun this morning with three locals on Signature Hill.

First of all I must say what a great day we had on Wednesday. The Ski Patrol Race was, as always, a fun event. Set in the Basin where the snow quality was very nice, the course was a little shorter than usual. Not that I could tell at first. Standing in the starter’s box I could only see the first 3 gates due to the fog and blowing snow. I suspect that it was due to the weather conditions that the jumps were omitted from the course this year.

Congrats to all winners and all competitors. There was not an abundance of spectators. Thanks to the race crew for braving the elements and thanks to all the donors of the prizes. The BBQ was well attended as it was out of the weather, set up underneath Eagles Nest restaurant with the snowmobiles.

It snowed, rained, sago-ed and hailed yesterday and I didn’t go out but I heard the snow quality up high was nice. Today the snow was very dry and soft up high. Below Kareela the off piste was very hard and the lower Supertrail was firm and thin (very thin).

As I rode Karels T-bar this morning Signature Hill looked too inviting. It had filled in quite a lot during the week. The testosterone rush was on for first tracks.

The weather forecasts have predicted heavy snows tonight and tomorrow with gale force winds, Sunday is supposed to be sunny which means a long lift line before 8:30am to get those freshies.
