Wet And Wild

Unfortunately we had a huge volume of non-stop rain over a 24-hour period, starting Tuesday evening. Late Tuesday night was spectacular with a lot of lightening and a hail storm that left my balcony looking like a scene from Sydney’s recent hail storm Since then conditions have been mostly misty and overcast with some light drizzle.

Yesterday winds reached 150kph and consequently several lifts were closed due to the wind. The lower slopes have suffered from the downpour and generally warm temperatures. Upper slopes have such a deep base that they are not showing much wear but the base is soft, wet and heavy. Off piste is particularly sticky and heavy going and rocks hidden last week have begun to appear

There is snow forecast this weekend. There is a lot of precipitation heading this way. Hope it’s all snow so I can bring you some good news soon. As you can see above from the limited photos, neither my camera nor the operator like to be out in wet conditions.
