Back On The Slopes
After far too many days off the slopes I just had to get out yesterday. The morning snow and weather reports sounded as though it was going to be the ‘day’ of the week. It turned out very nice indeed. 10cm of the lightest driest powder I have come in contact with this season. This fell on a very firm base and the best places to enjoy the new delivery were anywhere with a smooth base and this meant a lot of out of resort skiing. With such a deep snow pack there were many areas where you could find freshies.
The weather was superb if not slightly on the warm side in the valley. No breeze yesterday but cool air up high kept you very comfortable.
The weather reports have pulled back a little on the forecasts, made earlier this week, of a weekend of strong to gale force winds. The winds are picking up today and the early morning blue sky has been replaced with cloud, some of which is extremely dark.
There has been and still is a lot of race activity all over the resort. FIS races this week and NSW Interschools on the weekend. Don’t worry too much. With all the snow making over the past week the lower slopes have a fantastic cover and there is probably twice the area for skiing & boarding around the resort than what is available in poorer seasons.

Mini wind drifts were appearing today and the air temp up high feels too cool for the dreaded ‘R’ word. There should be some snowfalls over the next few days although it looks as though the next system will pass too far to the south to produce any significant falls. Of course we can always hope for another of those surprise 60-80cms.
