It's a Nice Day for a White Wedding
The last few days have been like much of the season - cool and sunny. With the wind increasing in strength this morning I postponed plans to go back onto the range but instead did a bit of reconnoitring around the resort.
The Supertrail and World Cup were firm to start. The best quality snow was probably the early corduroy in The Basin. It is difficult getting between the rocks on Karels. I didn't bother with the traverse from Antons to Wiamea - more rock and veg than snow.
Generally everything is THIN! The snow makers have been having some good nights but simply can't keep up with the demand or the wind.
The off piste, if already skied on, was firm otherwise still quite soft leaving you sinking into the shrubberies below. High Noon was OK and I never actually got to Cruiser - I don't remember why not.
The day started with a red tinge and the moon looking down
Red sky in the morning - a shepherd's warning
Should mean good news
Wind swept tundra out towards the 'Hill'

The traverse rebuilt after Merritts Creek boiled over last week
Looking up Conrod Straight - if it were there
Looking down Merritts Falls to Sponars base (top left)
Sundance (not bad today) with High Noon in the background
Close up of High Noon this afternoon - holding up well
The wind blowing snow across Sponars T-bar track this afternoon
In fact it was perfect weather in Thredbo Village for a white wedding
I wish I could be as positive as Tim Bailey was last night. The Adelaide temps and the 540 line just don't look promising but we should get something nice Monday-Tuesday (glass half frozen ;-)
Happy Birthday Traktorman
