CCC - Cold, Clear and Crowded

Monday and Tuesday were somewhat foggy and damp. The grooming has been superb. The off piste fun though not what you would call powder. The fresh corduroy on True Blue has been a treat each morning. The cover in all areas is excellent. The Redlands Cup had massive crowds queuing on Kosi Express.

Wednesday was a crisp blue-sky day. Overnight temps went below –10C and the snow makers had a ball for the second night in a row, making snow on the lower slopes. The runs were fast and firm, the crowds were huge. By late morning every lift had a long queue but Ramshead chair has still not been started up.

The cover out of the resort on the main range looks delightful and deep. The official base depth has gone way past last year’s maximum depth and is now above the 1982 maximum depth. On July 8th the base depth was the deepest for a July 8th since 1990.

Went out to Signature Hill this morning to escape the crowds. The snow quality is variable, the cover is great while the wind-chill was quite severe.

By the way, the Schuss is open while Bunny Walk could do with some more snow.

All except the ACT schools should be over their holidays after this weekend. Ramshead chair has still not started up and yet this would have been the week to be running it.

Snow conditions in the resort are firm with lots of man made topping up each night. The fresh corduroy is the best of it while off piste has been firm and bouncy.

The forecast is for some snow tonight and on and off for the next week.
