Les Miserables

Well, it's almost a week since my last report and during that time the weather has been pretty atrocious and I don't mean blizzard-like. It's cold, grey and damp. The village is near enough like a ghost town and as if to make the point, KT didn't put on any fireworks last night :-(

It keeps trying to snow but just ends up turning into drizzle. I hold out some hope that above 1900m the base is continuing to build and consolidate thus allowing some back country fun when the weather improves.

There's been no change in the forecasts - meaning they're all over the place and change drastically from one day to the next. I'm sure they are all trying hard and they sure are trying.

Many have asked how long ago it was since we had no skiing on opening weekend. Looking back through my reports I see it was 2009 and again in 2008. So, I guess we shouldn't be too disappointed at this stage.

We had light snow to the village on Friday and the snow guns were turned on (up top) but it wasn't much better than a heavy frost. There were a couple of centimetres above 1600m last night but otherwise it's pretty much been a week of brewer's droop - dribbly, droopy and no guns firing.

I'd have a grump but I'm simply not in the mood.
