A Week of Blue

So much blue sky and sub zero temps meaning tonnes of snow making and keeping the snow dry during the day on top of good grooming and early uncrowded slopes. Yes, I've been out each day this week and it's been enjoyable every time.

The wind picked up today and has been forming new wind drifts. My pick this morning was Wiamea. It was an interesting "ride" in there but once over the top lip there was a lovely 5cm deep cover of dry windblown snow. Jono led us down skiers' left of High Noon that was surprisingly nice (albeit the last 30m) on a good man-made cover.

The main range looks good. I apologise for not taking any photos yesterday when skiing Karels. After the next snowfall the whole Basin/Karels area will be sweet. At present the best is the groomers, which yesterday were the best skiing in the resort. We can still do with an improvement to the cover on the lower slopes - Sundowner and Sundance in particular.

Only Sponars T-bar remains unopened but at least the T's are on and Conrod Straight is groomed and looking great.

That winter chick, Gale Force, is due for a long weekend stint in Thredbo starting tomorrow and although I like her work I may stay indoors until she leaves ;-)

Looking at the charts (and the Adelaide forecast in particular) we could be in for several days of snow. Memories of the amazing start to July last year have come flooding back along with memories of what happened after that - oops.
