Easter Eggs
After a cold and wet start, Thredbo was bathed in beautiful weather for the last half of the long weekend. Together with the start of school holidays, quite a crowd turned up in the village.
Like many Easters in the past, the walking track to Mt Kosciuszko on Sunday was chockers. Young and old were taking in the abundant sunshine, cooling breeze and total lack of flies to perform that right of passage – climbing to the top of Australia.
The remaining drifts of snow from the previous week were like magnets to the kids. Click here to see last week’s report.
Speaking ’eggs’, there are a large number of emus in residence around the park entrance. The last breeding season was obviously very productive. I’ve counted up to 10 emus (mostly half grown young’uns) on trips to and from Jindabyne.
And while on the subject of ‘breeding’, the area has been in the throws of a mice plague (feral field mice not natives). Hopefully we will be rid of the little pests before winter.
