Well you would be a sad case if you didn't know the Winter Olympics were upon us again but I bring you photos from another world.

Rosco was forced back to Niseko upon hearing that Tokyo was snowed in. Lucky Phil had arrived to take over the baton and somewhere else Team Traktor were enjoying Asian delights.

As Rosco's time allowance is limited, I'm showing more of his photos in this report.

Lucky Phil arrived in Japan just in time for skiing-by-numbers

Last Sunday in Thredbo my balcony thermometer was reading 38C at 6pm. It was 28C inside my apartment. Luckily it cooled down and the rest of the week was most pleasant until yesterday when the mercury went skyward again. Rosco didn't need much encouragement to turn back when the Melbourne forecast was in the 40Cs.

On my way back towards Eagles Nest yesterday, after an early morning walk, I could see bush fires burning to the south east of Thredbo. This turned out to be the Bear Gap fire south of Ingebirah, which authorities say is under control. There have been fires just north of Cooma and at Bullocks Flat and just over the border south of Thredbo at Davies Plain. Conditions are forecast to be worse today then cool somewhat after a southerly change.
