Deep Freeze of the North
While Thredbo is now experiencing some classic mountain weather - misty, cool and damp - Rosco has been experiencing some unusually cold temperatures in Niseko and some frostbite to match.
Only 3 days ago the big thermometer was registering a chilly -19C and then there was wind chill on top of that. Considering this point is probably only about 700m above sea level it is sure cold. Rosco reports the quality of snow has actually suffered from the cold. I experienced the same many years ago in central Hokkaido where the snow slowed you down to a crawl (on steep slopes) at -40C.
Below are some more great photos from Rosco and a couple from Marion in France.

If you go down to the woods today ...

Blast from the past – Déjà vu for Rosco when he spotted this mono skier

Classic French quaintness
More cool conditions are forecast for Thredbo. Hope it doesn’t get too cold for the big swim in Lake Jindabyne.
