Mostly Rosco’s Report

It’s just a wild guess but I suspect you would prefer to see more of Rosco’s photos than mine at this time of year. I’m not going to say which is which - you can make up your own mind about whose photos belong to Rosco and me.

Good numbers are still visiting Thredbo, although it seems bigger numbers are in Niseko. I actually had to stand in a lift queue this morning for Kosciuszko Express as a large group of mountain bikers were going up for their initiation run down Crackenback.

The breeze was up over 30kph keeping the flies under the rocks and removing many a hat and even a thong from chair riders. It also made walking out from Eagles Nest a good workout, not that I went far.

There is still a small patch (4mx3m) of snow on Summer Drift and a larger patch on Signature Hill. Strange that I heard no frogs during my walk. May be they got flushed out by the recent heavy rains or breeding season is over?

I feel we are far enough into 2010 for me to have a grump - something to think about other than snow, powder snow and more snow. Nah - this is not about England’s winter or snow in Florida and Texas.

Mr Rudd, if CO2 emissions caused by humans are causing the destruction of the planet as we know it, why do you wish to double our population?

If your ETS is to gain a 5% reduction in CO2 emissions (ie to 95%), what's point if you double the population (ending up with 190%)?

Meanwhile Australia's prime farming land (the Darling Downs) is about to be dug up for coal by a consortium of BHP and Chinese diggers - go figure - food or more CO2? How serious is government about CO2 or is it just about the money?
