Rosco's Report
Why did I name this report Rosco's Report? He has spent today inside his lodge watching snow ploughs go back and forth, with no lifts of any consequence operating due to high winds and heavy snows. Rosco has received 160cm of new snow since Tuesday and it's still dumping. Thanks to his photos you can see how the other half are enjoying New Year.
Meanwhile in Thredbo the weather has been mixed. It rained again heavily last night along with a very noisy thunderstorm. We have had almost the entire January 2009 rainfall in just 2 days and more is forecast. Yesterday was warm and sunny whilst today it was misty and breezy - very nice to rug up and walk amongst the mountain peaks.
Only in Japan

I didn't get any photos of New Year's Eve - too wet. After a very nice dinner at the Terrace in the Denman hotel, Annie and I ventured down to the village square to watch the Remnants band bring in the new year. The rain did reduce the crowd size somewhat but there were those who were oblivious and danced away under the continual showers.
