The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Sayonara

There were more options in airfares this year. Although not one of the new options, I decided to try Korean Air this year. It provided a one-stop trip from Sydney to Sapporo via Seoul. This appealed to me because I did not like having to stop twice with JAL (Sapporo-Osaka-Brisbane-Sydney) and last year JAL hit me for excess baggage. Didn’t I get a surprise to find that Korean Air hit me with almost 4 times the excess baggage charge that JAL did. Admittedly I do travel overweight. Most of us do. Clothes for 4 weeks, skis, boots, etc can weigh a lot unless you have got the latest most expensive lightweight equipment. Being 190cm tall it is really hard to get anything that fits once in Japan. I don’t know which airline I will fly with next year but one thing is for sure - it won’t be Korean. May be I will try the Australian Airlines option of Sydney – Cairns – Sapporo next year.

Till next year ... or if you can't wait ... keep your eye on my irregular reports from Thredbo
